I'm not sure about guides on the internet, but the first things I'd
check would be if the spindle's driven by a rubber belt which is
getting worn out/stretched/perished, and that the chromed rails that
the head mechanism slides on are clean and lubricated. If it's got an
optical sensor for the track 0 position, that might need some dust
cleaning out of it too.
