I used to routinely connect at 45333bps to Demon. On a good day I'd
get 49333 at connection, but it would normally fall-back within a few
minutes (I noticed the connection drop while it renegotiated). As you
say, upstream was always 28k8. If I forced the modem to use 33k6, I
would get 33k6 in both directions (I think - my memory is hazy now!)
