You are right if  <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NICAM>  is to be 
believed. NICAM itself was not the beebs baby, but NICAM 728 was. They  
based it on NICAM 3 (which I hadn't heard of until you mentioned it). 
There is a list on the quoted page of countries still using NICAM. 
France is one of them. HeyRick, Didn't you tell me France had gone 
totally digital? If so, then the list needs updating.
