Subject: [BeebSoc] Work internet terminal
Hi,
Finally the work internet terminal has been updated. For a long time now
I suggested it have Linux dropped on, set to auto-start Firefox. I
suggest Linux primarily as anybody who knows their way around the
insides of Windows won't get far with Linux...
For several *months* now, the company website, on the company kiosk, has
been saying "Your computer is old and crap, update it" - thanks to
SiteKiosk running IE6 (!). It was, let's face it, comical.
Well, now you have access to Windows, and it is running Firefox. I
looked around in RegEdit, but the machine is locked down so "Internet"
is a limited account. It's pretty vulnerable, but frankly I can't be
bothered to hack that piece of crap.
Anyway, there are a couple of things I'd like to do to it, since usually
I find it sitting at the Windows desktop after somebody *closed*
Firefox. Ummm...
1. What should I alter to start Firefox in kiosk mode by default? If you
don't know what that is, switch to Firefox (if you're running it) and
press F11. ;-) Press again to undo. I'm guessing it's in the
about:config section?
2. I would like to put in NoScript, but a non-standard setup. I don't
want to confuse the hell out of everybody, so this is to be a stealth
operation where NoScript will WHITELIST everything that isn't
specifically blacklisted (yieldmanager, doubleclick, analytics, etc).
How would I do this? Any ideas?
3. AdBlockPlus, too. ;-)
Thanks.
Best wishes,
Rick.
