Just out of interest, would this be likely to give a better picture
than connecting the SCART cable directly to the TV's SCART socket?
I tried connecting an HDMI source to a computer monitor's DVI input,
but the monitor was unable to support anything other than 60Hz frame
rate, so it didn't work very well with PAL-sourced material :-(
There was obviously some negotiation going on, because the mere act of
connecting the monitor flicked my video source into NTSC mode, in
which it remained resolutely until the monitor was disconnected.
