Subject: !Gateway questions
Hi,
I've been trying to get !Gateway running on my A3020, but haven't had
much success yet, and have a few questions I wondered if anyone here
might have any advice on:
1) I've read on a couple of sites that there are various versions of
!Gateway some supporting "DCI-2" and some "DCI-4". Can anyone give some
guidance on how to determine which version I've got? The dates of the
drivers in !Gateway mostly seem a lot older than the drivers in my !Boot
folder (1992 vs 1994/5), is this an indication that the !Gateway I have
is too old?
2) I think I've set the configuration files right (happy to share them
if anyone wants to check them), but when I try to start it I get a
semi-cryptic error message "Configuration Error: Interface card or
driver not present", and it just exits.
3) Is running the "EconetA" driver that !Gateway seems to want to use
for talking to the Econet side supposed to prevent standard Econet comms
from the A3020 from working, or is this another clue that something's wrong.
4) The Ethernet drivers included with my version of !Gateway seem to be
just Ether2 and Ether3, but I think my card needs an EtherH driver. The
config files seem to suggest that some cards have their own drivers, so
don't need them from !Gateway - is that the case, and does anyone know
if that applys to the EtherH card family?
I guess this is probably slightly off topic, but there are quite a lot
of Acorn networking experts on this list, and my aim for !Gateway is to
get physical BBC Micros on Econet talking to emulated ones on Ethernet.
Thanks in advance
Michael
