Subject: 6502 chip available again

What is the definition of popular, an item that appears in many different
contexts or an item that is only present in one or a handful products that
sold extremely well? As far as I know, Commodore never allowed competitors
or 3rd party developers to buy 6510 chips so to most part it only exists in
the C64/128 repertoaire of computers. Actually the C64C and C128 have newer
variants, let it be they're functionally the same. The "original" 6502
design though branched in multiple variants and was as we know present in a
lot of products, which in total probably outsold the C64 as well.

Best regards
