Plenty of people have been using BBC BASIC (Z80) on custom Z80
systems (http://mdfs.net/bbcbasic/Custom). There's nothing
stopping somebody using 6502 BASIC on a custom 6502 board.

If doing so, I'd recommend using a 65c12 and using BASIC IV 4.32.
I've got code that will relocate it and its workspace anywhere in
memory, I need to get it tidy enough to upload, as well as code to
code to do the same with Z80 BASIC:
