Subject: Information gathering - please read and respond if you
Hi All
As some of you will have gathered, I'm looking at an HTML based diagnostic
routine for BBC B repair, primarily around the interface design and making
information more accessible.
I will of course be providing references for major sources, but I would like
to know from you if you do NOT wish your hard work absorbed into the
project. In this case please supply URL and owner (name/email) to my
personal email address please and state you do NOT want it used.
Clearly there will be big overlaps - that is inevitable - but I might refer
people on, if there is a list of parts like Sprows page for example
(http://www.sprow.co.uk/bbc/forsale.htm ) or JG's Beebwiki
(http://beebwiki.mdfs.net/ ). Please recommend good links / images to my
personal mail so I can consult the owners.
I'll publish anything I feel useful to the group on a project page to avoid
too many/long emails.
The project will not be looking to fix everything - that would be ridiculous
for a degree project - but I am hoping to run it on scripts, so it can be
easily added to. The objective is the interface.
Finally, I need a focus group once the interface is story boarded - if any
would like to offer a little help to assist with interface design, your
opinions on what works (or doesn't) would really be most appreciated. I need
a decent sample of users, because most of the marks for this project will be
around how I research and implement the interactions. I will also be looking
for the top issues, and the best solutions, as these will not form part of
the marking schema, but will be needed to demonstrate the project works.
Sorry for the long email, but didn't want to send lots of individual mails
to the list - thanks for your patience, and do please volunteer if you don't
mind.
Kind regards
John T.
