Subject: Linkers

I'm trying to do a little beginner work in C, and run directly into a
requirement to link programs together.  I poked around in SIMTEL20 MICRO:
and found L2, but find I need a linker to assemble L2 and its other two
necessary programs.

I keep running into this problem in CP/M too -- and my question is*
is there any way to link programs together WITHOUT a linker?
You see, I don't really understand everything a linker does.  If it's
just a matter of concatenating files -- heck, lots of ways to do that.
If it reconciles/adjusts all addresses between the linked programs...
that ain't so easy to do!

Help/information/education, please.
