Subject: Re: Apple & Applicard with ram extenders

[Re: inquiry by Bob@zeppo & reply from Boebert@HI-Multics.]
It may not be widely known that two extenders can be piggybacked
for up to 256K extra ram or a 223K ramdisk under PCPI version 2
software (version 2 has a number of enhancements and improved
documentation); the ramdisk can be declared to be drive A and
files can be automatically pipped to it on bootup, giving
convenience in startups and very impressive speed when
overlays are in the ramdisk -- at 6 MHz, applications like
Wordstar or Dbase II zip along with instant screen updates
from the user viewpoint. With two extenders, the Applicard is
thick at the Apple keyboard end, but can be installed in slot 7
to get it out of the way of other long cards. I have this
setup in an Apple //e and am pleased with it; I agree with
the comment that telephone support from PCPI is good.
Question: Does anyone else with a two-extender setup have
any comment regarding heat generation in the closely-spaced
ram board areas? I have not had problems so far in this
respect myself, but that region obviously does warm itself up.
