Subject: Re: video to digital

What machine do you have. I was thinking about building one for my
Zenith Z-100 (S-100) CP/M-85, MS-DOS machine, but I just use on
rare occasions a Data Translation device on an PC-BUS at work and
copy the data for use with my programs on the Z-100. I was thinking
of designing one for RS-232C, but even at 9600 or 19.2K Baud, it would
take a minute or more to save/load images. Also, aside from the
novelity, what good is it really? And the most important question -
How much would you and/or the public be willing to pay for one?
With development costs, PC-board design and manufacture, loan interests,
parts (FLASH Video A2Ds are VERY expensive), I figured that a 640x480x256
grey scale device would cost about $600 to produce at cost, about $400
more for color. You might be better off designing a BUS Interface and
be able to plug in S-100 or PC-BUS products into your machine.

Cheers,
Gern
