Subject: Beginner's questions
Well, here come a bunch of charming, naive questions to warm all
your hearts. :-) I have a 64 kB machine, running at a blistering
2 MHz (zow!) and want to know what kind of commercial and PD
software is available for it. I can access FTP, but have no idea
where to look or what to look for. My OS is CP/M 2.2.
Specifically, I am looking for:
a) Some sort of interpreter or compiler with accompanying decent docs.
b) A database which I can use for filing away my journal references.
c) A spreadsheet which handles scientific notation.
d) A word processor, doesn't have to be too fancy. In fact, I
don't like these new fangled ones like WordPerfect too much.
:-)
In addition:
a) A good introductory manual to CP/M, as detailed with respect to
how the OS works as possible (but not -too- esoteric).
b) Information on how to use the printer driver I got with my machine
to try and determine what sort of printer I should buy. I know
that I require one with a serial interface -- will ANY serial
interface do?
Boy...those should do for starters. If I think of any more, I'll
zing them out. :-) Thanks muchly.
