STV MODELLING OF ELECTION RESULTS FOR SHEFFIELD CITY COUNCIL ============================================================ The all-up elections in 2004 with three seats up in every ward gives an opportunity to extrapolate the actual voting figures to see what sort of result a different election system might have given. These are some calculations based on giving each ward a number of members from each party that stood as a direct proportion of that party's total vote share in that ward. The next largest vote share is allocated any remaining seats up to the maximum allowed by their vote share. Each next largest vote share is allocated until no more vote share is left. Any remaining seat is allocated to the remaining largest vote share. For example: In Walkley, the LibDems with 40.992% of the vote get 2 seats. Labour, with 40.985% of the vote would also get 2 seats, but there is only 1 left, so they get 1 seat. In Birley, Labour with 57.4% get 2 seats. There are no more votes cast that qualify for a seat. The remaining 1 seat is allocated to the LibDems with 19.8% of the vote.
