Robert Harker was killed in the closing days of World War One, soon after receiving news of the birth of his daughter, Harriet. He died without ever seeing her.

Robert is buried in the Mont-Bernanchon Cemetary in northern France, recorded as a member of the King's Own Lancashire Regiment. See: map, street view (local copy, large area map).
