Periodic Electoral Review of Sheffield’s Ward Boundaries

The Electoral Commission for England’s Boundary Committee is carrying out a review of ward boundaries in Sheffield. As part of that process it invites submissions from any interested party, as well as the local Council. I have been working on a scheme for some time and have enclosed the summary of my proposals. I expect that the City Council will also have contacted you with information on their model.

The Boundary Committee has invited proposals by 27th August 2002. Once all the proposals are in, a short time later they will publish all the submissions. Early in 2003 they will publish their draft recommendations based on what has been submitted.

The Boundary Committee asks the local council to have copies of all submissions so that people can comment on them. If you or anybody in your organisation want to comment on any of the schemes you should be able to look at them at the City Council’s offices. The City Council is likely to put information on their website at http://www.sheffield.gov.uk. I intend to put my scheme on my website at http://www.mdfs.net/User/JGH/Politics/WardReview/NewWards.

You can contact the boundary commission direct at:

I am happy for anybody to completely ignore my submission, or to criticise or support any parts of it.
