Subject: adding a 3 1/2 inch drive

hi
I'm thinking about adding a 3 1/2 inch floppy drive to my beeb, so that I
can use the cheaper disks, but I've hit a snag.

you see, I want to use it for all my disks, but the Superior Software games
disks, including elite, all need to use drive 0 as the disk drive, or 2, so
when I change to the 3 1/2 inch disk, I want the old 5 1/4 inch drive to be
drives 1 and 3, so these disks will all start looking on drive 0 & 2 for
their files, which will be useless! I can't copy these disks because they
are protected, and I can't use the 3 1/2 inch drive as 1 & 3 because the
copyable disks all use drives 0 & 2 somewhere in their code (I can't edit
bad programs) meaning that the only use for my 3 1/2 inch drive would be
for new files and disks which I know only use 1 &3.

What I need to know is, is there a poke I can use to make the machine think
that the drive which is normally 1 &3 is actually 0 &2?

How else can I get around this problem?

thanks

See ya!
