Nope.. I hate it too. It's not as bad as a Decstation II though, I've
permanent hearing damage from sitting around 10 foot away from one of
those (a backup DNS) for a year or two.

It's probably the windings of the scan coils and line output transformer.

My #1 cub (which has extra stuff, analog and TTL RGB ins) has made some
real impressive noises though. Best of all was when it decided to blow a
hole in its trippler, and arced back to the LOPT. like a machine gun.

Oh.. Big bang when the degaussing thermistor went too.

Interesting crackle when the PDA tracked through the layer of grim down
to the tube base. Followd shortly after by a "pop" from the red driver
transistor.

And no. a "Continental Universal" is not a perfect replacement trippler
on the cub Focus volts a tadge too low, focus is poor. Still, cubs are
ten a penny at the mo. :-/
