As a minimum, you need TX, RX and GND. It is possible to do software flow
control over such a cable, but I'm not a big fan of such an approach --
I prefer to use the RTS and CTS lines as well.

Didn't someone say that there was a kermit implementation available for
the Beeb somewhere ? This might be the easiest approach.
