  Congratulations on buying a proper computer!
First BASIC; you almost certainly have BASIC version 2; type
OSCLI("HELP")
at the prompt - I think if that gives you the same as *help you have
BASIC 2.

The board you describe sounds like a sideways RAM expansion allowing you
to load ROMs off disc into it; the leads are probably getting the write
enable off the ADC.
