Subject: Another Weird Hardware problem.

I have had by BBC Master 128k Micro for a few years now (I bought it six
months before Acorn stopped manufacturing them (in '92?)).

Every so often I get a strange problem with it. On switch-on the cassette
filing system is loaded as the default filing system, instead of DFS. The
key-presses become a little bit 'sticky', but more seriously the keys
[Shift] and [Ctrl] only function 10% of the time, for the rest of the time,
[Shift] returns character code 151, and [Ctrl] returns character code 153.
Also a Power-On [Break] (*FX200,2) still doesn't set the correct filing
system, so perhaps character code 152 is sent with the [Break] ?

The problems last for about 3-4 days and then it disappears. Generally the
problems happen every six months or so.

Does anyone have any suggestions or any experience of this kind of problem?

Thanks,
Steve Fewell @ Scala Uk (stevef@...)
