Subject: Something you all can help with :-)
One of the worst problems at the moment, is not finding an original BBC, but
rather a disc drive to attach to it.
To try and help some of these "unfortunates" it occured to me to compile a
list of drive makes that are running (or where running) on peoples BBC's.
If you've got 5minutes and feel competent enough, just take a screwdriver,
unscrew the drives casing and have a quick look at the Make and model number
sticker on the drive and mail me the details.
Hopefully this will help anyone on the lookout at car boot sales or computer
fairs for a compatible drive.
Especially interesting are details of 3.5 inch drives attached to BBC's /
Masters, and if you've had any bad reliability problems with any drive
inparticular.
eg. Attached to my BBC is a JVC MPD 100. A good thing about this drive is
any discs formatted with a standard format can be read by my PC - as long as
the skew factor > 3 :-) Very usefull.
I'll publish a list of the results.
