You can unsolder these chips, but it is difficult.  The best thing to do
would be to unsolder it (difficult if you don't want it to break) and put a
socket in, then put a new SA5050 in.

That is the Video Processor I think, it was redesigned by Acorn, because
the Ferranti one was unreliable and overheated, so it needed a heat sink
on.  The Acorn one does not need a heat sink, but it does no harm to have one.
