Subject: Re: what font best to use with email

Rick

Regarding Xfer of the BBC files, the best way is to read the disk in on the
PC with the 5.25 drive. You should use FDC to acheive this. I found that
this works best when the disks have been formatted on the BBC using the
Format program in the Watford DFS ie *FORM 80. My PC will then read them
without problems.

If you cannot get this to work then you should use a serial cable to
transfer files. With the registered version of pcBBC there is an excellent
utility that will handle the transfer of a complete disk even if it is a
little slow (sorry Stuart :-) )+

If you don't have a registered copy of pcBBC and hence the extra utility
then you will have to use the XFER program written by Mark de Weger, and
then you can transfer single files across.
Details of the serial "null-modem" cable are in one of the readme docs with
the program.

All this information can be found at the BBC Lives.

It doesn't matter what font you use. If someone else has typed in with
something a little oddball then you will still see the odd funny character.
Just make sure if that on you're email client that you are using plain text
and not rtf for your messages (which as far as I can see you have set up
correctly at the moment).

To make them look correct you must make sure that you are using a
non-proportional font. Something like Courier, Terminal or Lucida Console,
then they will also look correct in your email client.
