If you haven't done so already, then the first thing I'd check is the
cabling between the computer and the drive.  For example, on one of my own
drives the ribbon cable came loose within the drive itself and was easily
fixed by opening up the drive and plugging it back in.

If it's anything more serious, then it's ought of my league, and hopefully
one of the hardware gurus on the list can help you out...
