I think the best explanation of the 'Micro-Wars' can be given by someone
who wrote to Channel 4's teletext magazine 'Digitiser' about the
'Console Wars'. I can't quote it directly because the letter has since
gone, but basically the argument is all borne out of emotional
insecurity - You've spend a helluva lot of money on a system - possibly
more than you can really afford - and therefore are desperate to make it
seem the best, so you know you haven't wasted your money. Of course this
doesn't really make sense now with BBCs, but it explains the origins of
these really quite pointless 'arguments'. The same thing is going on
today... and will probably never end :-(
