Subject: Re: Video output on Master

I think Matthew means that a cable from the beeb's RGB socket to the RGB
pins on a TV's SCART socket could be used. This depends very much on the
telly - some can only accept 'analogue' RGB, but my Panasonic can take a
digital (TTL) RGB input, too (it automatically detects what's being fed
into it).

The video socket on the bbc outputs a composite video signal (probably
1v pk-pk into 75ohms, I would guess) but an un-modified machine does not
carry the colour-burst signal, so monochrome output only is possible. If
your TV (or VCR) has a composite video input socket (or indeed a SCART
socket) then (with a suitable cable) you can connect this socket to it
to give a slightly clearer image than the RF output. With a simple
modification to the beeb, full-colour PAL output can be obtained.

The video input on your TV might be labelled "Video In", "CVBS In",
"Composite In", "Composite PAL" or probably a number of other things.
They all mean the same thing.

I hope this (very bad) explanation clarifies the situation a bit for
you, and hopefully it doesn't confuse the issue further :-) Please don't
hesitate to mail me if I can be of any further assistance (doubtful!).

Tim.
