If he can't obtain a replacement, he may want to consider a repair.

Common faults with BBC PSUs:

1.  C9 goes leaky.  Symptom:  PSU initally dead, but machine fires up if
left on for a few minutes.  Solution:  replace C9

2.  Mains cable breakage.  Symptom:  Machine dead, caused by winding the
power cord around the machine prior to storage.  Cable breaks at the
strain-relief grommet at rear of PSU.  Solution:  replace cable or cut
short and re-fit to bypass the break.
