Not only do you have to consider the possible difficulty of obtaining
the chips, but the BBC also has a couple of ULA's (video and serial)
which we'd have to program.

Interesting. This would get round the ULA problem. Perhaps simpler to
emulate as much as possible (6502, keyboard, screen) and then provide an
ISA interface for the user port, 1Mhz bus, ADC etc. Of course you can
utilize the PC's existing serial and parallel ports.

It's an interesting project, but I can't see there being much demand for
the finished product!
