Well there is very little really obscure; the disc controller - the 8271
has got to be the most obscure, and the 177x which replaced it is I
believe also out of production.

Ah, but then there is the Video and serial ULAs.

A good trick would be to build an entire model B in an FPGA - all the
information is around if you wanted to design an FPGA to do it; I've heard
of this type of thing being set as 3rd year projects before.
