Subject: Re: Re BBC serial filing system
Hello members of the bbc-mailinglist,
A couple of weeks ago I subscribed myself at this list. I'm a
student in the Netherlands and I own a BBC. It's a plain BBC B,
but I added some SRAM as semi-sideways ram to load rom-
images into it.
For lacking a disk-system and the difficulties to get one, I once
decided to write a userport filingsystem ROM. It's not complete,
but it's able to load and save programs at 'high'-speed. My 386dx33
and BBC are able to achieve a transferrate of 12 kilobytes/s (that
as fast as a single density floppy disk).
The programs are written in BBC basic/assembler and Borland
Pascal 7. It can be downloaded at
http://www.cpedu.rug.nl/~n0909270
The file is called USER.ZIP, and contains the sources,
executables, the game hopper and my routines to put it in SRAM.
It's lacking (good) documentation. Questions will be answered.
Take your advantage of it (or not) and if you try it, let me know what
you think of it,
Greetings, Ate
