Most likely you were using DFS before, which re-reads the directory on each
acces, whereas ADFS stores the directory for instant display later.

The only way to "remove" that effect is to do *CONFIGURE DIR
This will instruct the ADFS to retrieve the current directory when it is
started, although to swap between discs you will needs to use *MOUNT to
inform ADFS of the disc change.

Note that this will cause the ADFS to read the directory on switch-on if it
is configured to be the default filing system.
