Subject: Re: Broken BBC Master Compact

> It looks as if the BBC was connected to an Econet network, try doing a
CTRL-D-BREAK That should make the disk interface the primary file source,
you should then be able to edit the config file so that it ignores the Econet
interface. I can't remember the commands for doing this, but I'm sure somebody
else can help on that one.

As it's a compact, you'd want Ctrl-A-Break or Ctrl-F-Break, as they use ADFS
not DFS (DFS wasn't in the ROM, but you can load it from the disk if you need to)

After a Ctrl-F-Break *Roms / *Status / *Configure can be used to configure
it to go to the disk instead of the Econet. You might be able to get reset
the CMOS with a R Poweron, but unlike the Master, the Compact doesn't have
batteries to go flat, but the EEPROM chip that it uses instead may have a
limited life span, I know it was limited to a number of writes.

You'll need SetStation from somewhere to configure the Econet station ID
to get rid of the "Configured station number is invalid" type message, if
you're not using it on an Econet, you can ignore this anyway, or even remove
the Econet ROM and interface module.

Cheers

Chris
