I had some sucess some years ago with 'Xfer' from the BBC lives! web site.
It involves making a serial lead for the BBC -> PC link and I had a
difficult time finding the correct 'domino' plug to use for the BBC end
for a while.

Once I had that sorted though it all seemed to go fairly smoothly if I
remember correctly.  I do remember it taking quite a while to transfer
anything of any size, but it did get the job done.
