What you are looking for is the excellent XFer V4.0 software by Mark de
Weger and Angus Duggan.

It does everything you require and includes a pinout and schematic for
making a suitable serial cable.

It's almost certainly available elsewhere but you can get a copy from:

Including various utilities for extracting individual files from .ssd and
.dsd image files.
