Hi,
       I am not to sure if its been mentioned before but I found the
great website which contains some of the BBC Micro User articles
particularly some of the BBC body building ones.

contains one of these article on fitting 8271 controller and DFS to a
machine and has information on which tracks have to be cut on lower
revision motherboards. Jumper settings and keyboard links etc
