Never forget that it is possible to run several regular X servers at 
once under Linux (at different colour depths). You can switch between 
the X servers with [CTRL][ALT][Fn] (virtual console feature). This is 
the way I suggested on my page:  http://www.kayoon.net/kaell/beebem/
