In the german c't magazine (http://www.heise.de/ct/ftp/projekte/com2lan/)
this week, there is a most interesting article on building a cheap Ethernet
-> RS232 bridge adapter. The adapter has its own built in web server etc. It
is also possible to have two adapters communicate directly with each other
via, for example the internet without the RS-232 port knowing anything about
it. Thus removing constraints of RS232 wiring. There is not too much
information on-line, well they would like to sell a magazine or two wouldn't
they. But if there is sufficient interest I may be persuaded to do a
translation.
The major part used was the Xport embedded device server from Lantronix.

Maybe this could be adapted to provide an econet bridge module, after all
the econet is basically a serial driven port.
