Subject: Topologika, and floppy archives...

Hi all,

I got a box full of disks the other day (plus a few QIC tapes) which
appear to have come from Topologika years ago.

There are copies of master disks for all of their old games, plus what
looks to be the source for Acheton - those are just what I've managed to
read on a BBC.

However, there are quite a few floppies (maybe half - 50 or so) which
are labelled as being backup disks and have names like "$.ABM".

Before I ask further afield, does the $.xxxx naming strategy mean
anything to anyone? Given the nature of the data, it's quite possible
that everything was hosted on Acorn hardware and so these are created
with an Acorn backup utility of some sort. Or not....

Some of the floppies have the name of Jon on them, suggesting these may
have belonged to Jon Thackray of Topologika. Some others mention John -
possibly Jonathan Partington (who does have a page up on the web, so
I'll drop him an email).

The tapes are QIC 150MB and 60MB ones (those I can at least read at the
hardware level) and QIC-80 170MB ones (less sure about those, I may
still have a drive that'll cope with them). The tape labels suggest they
came from a VAX system...

cheers,

Jules
