Subject: XFER file without an INF file?

I have a BBC BASIC program on the PC, and I'm trying to transfer it to the BBC
using XFER 4. 

I know I've done this before because I have been running this program on the
Beeb, but XFER 4 is having nothing to do with it, presumably because there is
no associated INF file for the program?? 

Is it possible to transfer a file over without an INF file?
