It needs the .inf file, but you can edit an existing one to work.

You could create a simple BASIC file on the beeb, save it to floppy,
transfer it to the PC with XFER . When on the PC just edit the .inf file
with notepad, save-as your new BASIC prog name then see if it works with
XFER.
