We are going back a few years here so some of the details may be hazy !
I worked almost opposite Viglen in Trumpers Way. Apparently they started
by
making plastic cases for disk drives before getting involved in BBCs.
They
eventually moved onto PCs before being taken over by Amstrad.
The shop in Hanwell was in Boston Road and I think it was called MK
Micros.
I bought my BBC B there for £400 which was about a month's wages !
Sometime
later I went to Viglen for the interface and 100k disk drive which I
recall
was about £200.

I remember the Viglen unit at Trumpers Lane in Hanwell. The location of
the
BBC shop escapes me. You have reminded me that I have a Viglen BBC
Console
somewhere. Towards the end of Viglen when they did not deal in BBC's
there
was, on the top floor, people from Viglen that repaired only BBC
equipment.
The fixed one of my BBC's there. Where are they now? I could use them.
Kind Regards, Mark

CUC DOS was Computers Users Club DOS which came with third party disc
drive
interfaces
when the original Acorn one was £100. I swapped mine out for the Acorn
DFS.
If you are Ealing do you remember the Beeb shop and Viglen both up the
road
in Hanwell W7 ?
(I have a two Bs and a Master with assorted co-pros)

Gentlemen,
I have ten BBC b's, one BBC+ and three Masters. I have three out at one
time. Two next to my P.C.'s and one downstairs.
My preference is for the BBC b's, even the one with C.U.C. Dos,
whatever
that is. The BBC+, I inherited which has useful sideways RAM so that
Mini
Office II spreadsheets can run in all modes. I obtained the Masters only
because they are dual DFS's and can run BBC b programs, some times
slightly
corrupted. Mr.EEee! is an example. Also they work my Winchesters, and if
I
could be bothered to work it out my Econet File Servers.
These are my thoughts, share them by all means.
Kind Regards, Mark.
