It's a printer, you plug it into the printer port. If you can't plug it
into the printer port, it's not a printer, it's a pile of expensive junk,
and if you bought it new, you should return it to the shop and threaten
them with prosecution under the Sales of Goods Acts for being of
unmerchantable quality and for being goods unsuitable for the purpose for
which they were sold.

I known of somebody who recently bought a printer which had clearly
labelled on the side of the box "OPTIONAL USB LEAD NOT SUPPLIED".

Upon getting it home and opening it, that label should have read
"ESSENTIAL USB LEAD NOT SUPPLIED", as the only connection the printer has
was a USB port, and so consequently it was a useless pile of expensive
crap.
