There's quite a bit of useful stuff in the Advanced User Guide
(www.bbcdocs.com if you don't have a paper copy)
The guts of the BBC's video is the venerable 6845 CRTC. Data for that is
also on bbcdocs.com (under datasheets), but you might also want to grab
copies of the datasheet from the different manufactrers who made the
chip via www.datasheetarchive.com - in my experience some manufacturers
are better than others when it comes to writing datasheets and you might
find some useful hints that way.
