An exploded capacitor.
Specifically, a demised 0.1uF X2-rated 250V Rifa PME271M, which went by the
part designation "C2". Twenty years that thing lasted, and it picked today to
go boom.
And for extra points, it's got a pin pitch that AFAICT no manufacturer uses.
I've got some 0.1uF X2s in my junkbox, but they're a lot smaller than the one
I pulled out of the PSU. There's plenty of space on the PCB track to drill a
small hole to match the pin pitch of the new part though...
