That's what I thought. So going back to my earlier post about the Issue 
7 BBC and the 1770 disk interface, it definitely looks like I have a 
harware problem,  though somewhere other than the upgrade itself (as all 
the components of that are known good, apart from the 74LS132N which is 
not socketted).

Pin 27 of IC6 is connected to pin 1 of 10 by a wire on the underside of 
the motherboard. Anbody any ideas as to why this might be? Maybe it's 
normal, I've never noticed in the past.
