It's highly unlikely that the machine is a total write off, the suggestions
on my website are simply the most frequently encountered causes (dirty legs,
loose chips etc).

Fortunately replacement machines are readily available still so you can keep
going on a replacement and keep the broken one for spares,
Sprow.
