It could be done, yes, but I'm not so convinced that that approach is as
useful.

Wouldn't it make more sense to write an Econet server for linux/windows
or whatever using the AUN protocol. That way the bridge just need to
convert between Econet and AUN (in the same way that !Gateway apparently
does).
