When Acorn implemented the "code" key and NUL-byte prefixing in
the keyboard stream they forgot to modify the serial input to take
note of it. MOS 3.50 for the Master fixed this, but if you want to
do serial binary data transfers on the Compact you need to filter
the serial input using a patch such as my SerFix at
http://mdfs.net/Software/Comms/JGH
This fix is built in to my XTerm terminal program.
