I'm sure you're right and that would bear out what was said earlier
about being able to get different sets of data showing up for drives 0
& 2 depending which way up the disc was in the drive.
I will have a go at that at some point but I am rather reluctant to play
about formatting them until I have copied the contents as there are
some quite good games on them!
I hadn't seen Electro Freddy for years!

I assume what you mean is that a disk formatted as drive 0 and drive 2
no longer works if you turn it over?
Once you turn it over it's rotating in the opposite direction, so even
if the tracks lined up (which they don't) the bitstream would be
backwards, which is unreadable.
You need to format it again to use it like that.
